To participate in massage therapy is to invest in your health—physical, emotional, spiritual, and social. Whether we meet for regular preventive maintenance or for a once-in-a-while "pick-me-up" session, you will find affordable services meant for all.

*BASELINE RATE: To accommodate people in a variety of situations, pay what you can generously afford and what you value the service, with a minimum baseline as indicated.

TRAVEL FEE: For distances 6+ miles outside of Hemet/San Jacinto, I charge per travel hour at the same rate as the newcomer massage per hour. For example, a 1-hour round trip (per Google Maps) adds a $60 travel fee.

Don't Keep Me a Secret!

The best way to say thanks for a great massage is to tell your family and friends, or leave a review for others to find Bodywork for Peace on Facebook, Google or Yelp.

Services

Somatic Bodywork

Somatic Bodywork or Relational Somatics is a way to address stress and trauma in the body through hands-on bodywork and safe therapeutic rapport in a way words often can't. Sessions combine intuitive hands-on work with dialogue, mindfulness ("notice what you notice"), gentle movement, visualization, journaling and art. I approach the body with curiosity, asking, "What wants to happen here?" and showing respect for its innate wisdom. Somatic bodywork is complementary to, but does not replace, counseling with a qualified psychotherapist or other professionals when necessary.

Deep Tissue Sculpting

Designed to remove severe tension, Deep Tissue Sculpting massage is a technique that lets the muscles melt rather than forcing through resistance. It typically does not use oil or lotion on the skin and helps to relieve muscles and connective tissue through varying layers below the surface. Range of motion and injuries improve with Deep Tissue Sculpting.

Cupping

Using flexible silicone cups in a variety of sizes and styles, cupping suctions firmly to oiled skin for a lifting, pulling sensation, creating negative pressure like a reverse massage. Cups may be kept in place (static) while you relax or do slow movements in that area, be moved around slowly (dynamic), or combine styles. Cups can be used almost anywhere on the body for relaxation and pain relief, except over broken or sensitive skin. They often leave circular marks similar to a bruise, depending on the condition of your skin, how long they are left on and how firmly they’re suctioned. This is normal and they usually leave within about a week.

Swedish/Deep Circulatory

Massage oil or cream is used with smooth, gliding strokes. Swedish massage uses firm but gentle pressure to promote relaxation, ease muscle tension and create other health benefits such as increased circulation. It is a classic massage that will ease your stress and allow you to slip into a calm state of relaxation. It blends well with many other kinds of massage.

Sensory Repatterning

Using a series of gentle body-rocking movements and passive joint movements, Sensory Repatterning adds a sense of deep relaxation and floating. It brings awareness to holding patterns in the joints and works to help them release for lasting benefits. Sensory Repatterning can be performed while fully clothed or with draping when combined with circulatory massage methods. Similar to Milton Trager’s Psychophysical Integration work.

Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy addresses trigger points, tight areas that refer pain to other areas or radiate outward from a central location. The pain may be a dull ache or sharp and intense. This is therapeutic work requiring active feedback on location and pressure, and is effective to relieve pain. I can also teach you self-massage for trigger points to improve your condition between sessions.

Thai Massage

Thai massage uses ancient stretching and massage techniques to leave you feeling free and relaxed. It is traditionally performed on a floor mat while clothed fully in comfortable clothing, but can also be received on a massage table and may be combined with other modalities. When receiving Thai with circulatory massage, Thai positions are modified to maintain proper draping.

Sports Massage

Sports massage uses a variety of massage techniques designed to help your body feel freer and stronger. It is particularly great for those with active lifestyles. As a physically active person myself, I am well suited to provide an effective massage for sore muscles and workout pains.

Chair Massage

Chair Massage is performed in a specially designed chair with your clothes on. It is excellent for both relaxation and therapeutic purposes, depending on your goals. Chair massage is popular as a mobile service for special events at work, employee appreciation, athletic competitions, parties, etc.

Prenatal/Postnatal Massage

Pregnancy massage focuses on addressing the special needs, both physical and emotional, of women around childbirth. I use extra cushions, side-lying postures and modified techniques to improve comfort and safety while addressing areas of greatest concern like hips, glutes, back, shoulders, and more. Please let me know prior to the session if there are any prenatal complications.

Skin Rolling

Slowly rolls the skin between fingertips in a continuous direction to help loosen adhesions between skin and fascia, usually in the same direction as the muscle fibers. May feel superbly relaxing and relieving or somewhat intense with burning or pulling sensations--slowing down even more can help it be more comfortable and the sensation is helpful information about the state of the tissues.

Self-Massage Classes

Effective for improving one's self-care routines, these skills can be taught to all ages using very simple equipment or none. Classes often include deep breathing and some stretches to augment the process. Self-massage is helpful to connect with one's body in positive ways and provide more consistent relief between sessions. I have experience teaching youth in residential treatment as well as adults. Typically I include relevant self-massage techniques with individual sessions.

Attendance minimum is 4 students and classes must be held at your home, school, business, etc. (I do not provide the venue.)
$70 per 1-hr class.

A Note about Draping and Boundaries

I provide therapeutic and relaxing, non-sexual massage with clear boundaries and draping according to my and my clients' comfort. I never work on genitals or under the sheet. Clients dress according to their comfort level with no pressure to undress; some modalities are best received fully clothed (like Thai) and others unclothed (like Swedish), but I can always modify based on safety and comfort.

Cancellation Policy

To avoid being charged for missed sessions, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment.  I typically text or call the day before as a courtesy.
―The first session canceled with less than 24 hours notice, or no-show will owe 50% of the full baseline rate.
―Second late cancellation or no-show you will be charged 100% of the full baseline rate.
